Warren is among three county teams in the District 10 basketball playoffs. The Dragons open at 6 p.m. Thursday versus Hickory at Sharon High School.

Warren's boys basketball team will open the District 10 playoffs on Thursday, the Eisenhower boys on Friday, and Warren girls on Saturday of this week.

On Thursday, Warren's boys basketball team (14-8 overall) -- tied for second in Region 5 at 11-3 -- will meet Hickory (14-7), which finished in third place in Region 4 at 10-4.

Warren -- the fifth seed in the eight-team D10 Class 4A playoffs -- and No. 4 Hickory will play at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sharon High School.

Region 5 champion Fairview is the tournament's top seed. Three 4A teams advance to the PIAA tournament beginning March 8.

On Friday, Eisenhower's boys basketball team will play a familiar foe, Cambridge Springs, in the D10 2A quarterfinals at 6 p.m. at Meadville Area High School.

Eisenhower (13-9) and Cambridge Springs (12-10) both finished 10-4 and tied for second in Region 2, and split during the season. Cambridge Springs topped Ike, 61-44, on Jan. 7, but the Knights won, 68-62, on Feb. 1 at home.

A win will get the Knights to states as four of the eight teams advance in 2A.

Warren's girls basketball team also opens with a region opponent, General McLane, in the 5A quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Prep-Villa Hagerty Family Events Center in Erie.

Defending D10 5A champion Warren (16-6), finishing tied for second in Region 6, is the top seed in the 8-team bracket. McLane is 8-13, finishing fifth in Warren's Region 6.

Despite a three-game losing streak to McDowell, region-champ Villa Maria (4A), and Harbor Creek to end the regular season, the Dragons defeated General McLane twice, 51-23 and 43-31, during the season.

Three 5A girls teams advance to the PIAA tourney beginning March 9.
