TITUSVILLE -- After splitting its first six games, Warren's boys basketball team opened Region 5 play with a 72-51 win Tuesday at Titusville.
"Our trap gave them a lot of trouble early on," said Warren coach Jeff Berdine of the Dragons' 23-3 first quarter.
"We only gave up 3 points in first quarter, then gave up 16 in the second," said Berdine. "Focus and communication are still works in progress."
Parks Ordiway had 10 points in Warren's 39-19 first half.
Owen Becker finished with 13 points, Ordiway had 12 and JT Blum scored 10 for the Dragons, which had 10 players score in starting point guard Tommy Nyquist's second game distributing.
"I thought we did a good job in our sets and made some better decisions with the ball when there wasn't opportunities to fast break," said Berdine. "Defensively, we will need a better effort Friday against Corry."
Braylon Barnes and Aidan Zdarko had 11 points each in a 61-25 Warren junior varsity win earlier on Tuesday.

ERIE -- Thakari Warren hasn't missed a free throw so far this basketball season.
Tuesday night he stayed perfect at precisely the right time.
Warren's two charity tosses late in the fourth quarter -- his only points of the game -- lifted Eisenhower to a 64-62 victory over Iroquois.
Iroquois had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds when a player was fouled attempting a 3-pointer, but he made just one of three attempts and the Knights came away with the victory.
Wyatt Lookenhouse led Eisenhower with 25 points, including 15 in the first quarter; Curt Darling added 19 points and Kyler Black chipped in 13.
Ben Burkhardt scored a game-high 33 points and Connor Combest chipped in 16 for Iroquois.
Lookenhouse and Darling combined for 27 points in the first quarter as the Knights raced to a 29-14 lead, but they were outscored 15-4 in the second period, allowing the Braves to pull within 33-29 at the break.
