Dragons grab region road win

LINESVILLE — Warren’s boys basketball team won its second straight region road game with a 57-39 victory on Friday at Conneaut.

The Dragons are 8-5 overall and 5-1 in Region 5. All of a sudden, they have the same region record as Fairview again, after the previously unbeaten Tigers lost at Oil City.

Parks Ordiway led Warren with 17 points and JT Blum and Owen Becker added 14 each. Becker scored 8 points in the Dragons’ 16-11 first quarter, and Ordiway 10 in Warren’s 16-15 second.

“It was a slow start for us defensively in the first half,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “I thought the kids executed better in the second half, offensively. I believe we only had two turnovers in the second half. We also did a better job on the glass in the second half, limiting them to one shot per possession.”

Warren limited Conneaut to 13 second-half points, four in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles are 0-12 overall and 0-6 in Region 5.

Warren won the junior varsity game 56-30 earlier Friday. Braylon Barnes paced the Dragons with 17, Brady Berdine had 12, and Konnor Hoffman 11 points. Warren led 36-10 at halftime.
