Dragons knock off St. Marys

Warren jumped out to a 17-8 first-quarter lead and went on to defeat St. Marys, 57-33, on Monday at Warren Area High School.

Sophomores Brady Berdine and Braylon Barnes combined for 10 of those 17 points. Berdine scored 8 of his 11 points in a 28-15 first half.

“We played the hot hand,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons are 3-2. “Brady, Bray, Justice (Greene), Konnor (Hoffman), and (Owen) Becker were very good together tonight, and changed the game with their defensive energy.”

Parks Ordiway had 10 of his team-high 13 points in the second half. Becker and JT Blum added 10 points each as four Dragons finished in double figures in scoring and eight scored points.

FRESHMEN PREVAIL

TITUSVILLE — Warren’s freshmen boys basketball team used a big second-quarter run to pull ahead of Titusville and hold on for a 34-30 win on Monday.

Reid Olsen had 5 points and Chase Sitler and Casey Rich 4 each in a 15-point second stanza.

After Titusville fought back from a 27-16 deficit for a 10-0 run of its own, Sitler’s fourth-quarter trey and buckets by Grady Corey and David Huffman were too much for the Rockets to overcome.

Sitler paced Warren (1-2) with 15 points and Rich added 6.
