Warren senior setter Halee Mineweaser has received American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region honors.

Mineweaser was named to the AVCA All-Region Team for Region 2, which includes players from Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. She’s among seven Pennsylvania players on the All-Region Team.

Mineweaser helped lead the Dragons to the District 10 3A playoff semifinals in a season in which they were co-region champions. She had 695 assists and 1,175 for her high school career — the final two seasons as Warren’s primary setter. She also had 252 digs, 46 blocks, 51 aces and 95 kills her senior season.

“Halee has been such a great inspiration to every teammate she has had at WAHS,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “From day one of her high school career, she has been committed to working as hard as she possibly can to make herself and her team better. This year as a senior captain and leader, she and her fellow captains really did a great job setting an example of how a great player goes about becoming great to her teammates. Playing a very demanding schedule this year and leading her team to a Fort LeBoeuf tournament title, a Region 5 championship, and a third-place finish in D10, Halee did whatever it took to help her team. She accepted different challenges and different positions. … In short, she did it all for the team this year. She’s one of just a handful of Warren players to achieve over 1,000 assists in her career. … She will be missed, but leaves a terrific legacy as a four-year letter winner and past D10 champion and PIAA silver-medalist.”

The AVCA has 10 regions in the nation.

“The number of athletes on each All-Region team is determined by the number of AVCA High School All-America nominations each region receives,” according to AVCA.org. “The top 50% of nominated athletes, as selected by the AVCA High School Regional Committees, are named to their respective All-Region team.”
