Warren junior high runners take first place

SUGARCREEK — The Warren Dragons and Eisenhower Knights cross country teams had outstanding performances at the Rocky Grove Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Junior High Dragons girls team took first place in the two mile race with 49 points, finishing well above Oil City in second with 90 points. The Dragons had three runners finish in the top ten out of the 151 runners, with Lilly Newton leading the way in second at a time of 13:27, Jahzara Hunter took sixth with a time of 14:13, and Morgan Alexander finished in eighth at 14:14. Joining in the top 25 was Emma Peterson in 16th with a time of 15:00, Lucille Harrison right behind her in 17th at 15:04, and Fajbik Lauren in 18th at 15:05. Also reaching the finish line for the first place Dragons was Loralei Johnson in 52nd place at 17:21 and Brady Caudill finished shortly after at 18:23.

At the varsity level, Warren’s Katie Beyer stood above all but one runner as she took second place out of 185 runners in the competition, finishing at a time of 21:30. Joining Beyer in the varsity competition was Shyann Rulander who finished in 16th with an impressive time of 22:35 and Kasey Kophazy in 67th at a time of 25:09.

Eisenhower also braved the muddy course on Saturday, the girls varsity team finished 20th out of 20 teams while the junior high girls took 12th out of 13 teams.

Eisenhower’s top runner was Bryceton Wilkins receiving a ribbon in the junior high boys race at 40th place out of 141 runners with a time of 14:18. Joining Wilkins was Easton Fitzgerald in 67th at a time of 15:24 and Michael Palmieri in 84th at 16:02.

The varsity girls team was led by Gracie Anthony in 124th at a time of 28:00, Chloe Lasecki in 127th at 28:13, Peyton Kellogg in 135th at 29:05, Kendra Chase in 168th at 32:11 and Brooke Andersen in 170th at 32:51. At the junior high level, Hialeah Stanton was 55th in 16:14, Bryn Lindell was 88th in 17:35, Isabelle Grosch was 89th in 17:35, Cassady Ferino was 133rd in 20:37 and Lillian Cathcart was 134th in 20:37.

Eisenhower had three boys compete in the varsity race out of 243 runners. Griffin Williams took 100th at 21:51, Joseph Mistretta was 112th at 22:08 and Nathan Hanson was 207th at 27:07.
