Warren beats Fort LeBoeuf

WATERFORD — Warren’s boys soccer team is hanging with the front runners in a tight Region 4. After a last-minute loss to North East two days ago, the Dragons pulled away from host Fort LeBoeuf, 5-1, on Thursday.

Finn Ordiway started the scoring 2.5 minutes into the game off a nice assist from his older brother, Parks.

Finn found the back of the net again midway through the first when they paired up again. The Dragons took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Bison (7-4) came out strong in the second half, but Warren’s defense was up to the task with standout games from Ricky Madril and Ethan Best.

The Dragons third goal came off a corner kick where Parks Ordiway served a nice ball and Jack Darling found the back of the net with a rocket of a header.

Midway through the second period, the Bison broke through and netted a goal of their own. Less than two minutes later, Parks Ordiway found Mark Lynds for the Dragons’ fourth goal and Ordiway’s fourth assist.

The Dragons finished the scoring late with a penalty kick by Parks Ordiway.

JT Blum — filling in as keeper –played lights out with great positioning and a strong command of the defense.

“Before the game, Dragons’ assistant coach Steffen Blair challenged Finn Ordiway and Jack Darling to be part of the scoring and Ordiway delivered with quite possibly the game of his career with two goals, and Darling added to the score sheet, too,” said Warren head coach Denny Flatt. “It was great to see the kids respond to Stef and his input.”

The Dragons will face a tough Hickory team at 11 a.m. Saturday at War Memorial Field.

Starting at $3.50/week.
