Navaroli leads way
Earns All-PSAC honors; Slippery Rock places fifth

KUTZTOWN -- The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team finished fifth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships last Friday at Kutztown University.
The Rock's five scorers combined for 152 points to take fifth out of 16 complete teams at the meet. SRU was in third place with just over one mile to go, but slipped back to fifth in the final standings. Edinboro repeated as champions with a convincing score of 32 points. Shippensburg took second with 71 points, followed by Lock Haven in third with 124 points and Indiana (Pa.) in fourth with 133 points.
Bloomsburg followed SRU in sixth place with 174 points, followed by Gannon (211), Kutztown (228), West Chester (239) and Mercyhurst (276) rounding out the top 10.
The Rock had three men earn All-PSAC honors by way of their overall placing in the individual standings. Warren Area High School graduate Devon Navaroli (16th), Shannon Dooley (21st) and Benjamin Buckless (28th) all picked up a second team All-Conference award for placing in the 16-30 range.
Navaroli led SRU in 16th place after covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:52. Dooley picked up his second straight All-PSAC finish in 21st in 26:55 and Buckless earned his first All-PSAC award in 28th in 27:11.
Ethan Brentham was the fourth scorer in 42nd place in 27:34 and Troy Hart capped the scorers in 47th place in 27:43.
Slippery Rock's top seven were rounded out by Tucker Davis in 61st in 28:08 and Nathan Eadie in 69th in 28:23.
A total of 152 runners completed the course Friday.
The Rock will now turn their attention to the final meet of the season and the longest race of the fall with the 10,000-meter Atlantic Region Championships set for Nov. 6 at Lock Haven University.
