Warren tennis, volleyball suffer setbacks

Izzy Heacox and Iris Kiehl won 7-5, 6-3 at second doubles, but that was Warren’s only victory in a 4-1 loss to Mercyhurst in Region 2 girls tennis Tuesday at Betts Park.

Mercyhurst’s Alie DiNicola beat Sydney Govoni 6-0, 6-0 at first singles; Angela Chardeen topped Mackenzie Lester 6-4, 6-2 at second singles; and Lauren Richmond beat Sydnie Cochran 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

Sophia Potalivo and Maggie Gallagher downed the Dragons’ Madalyn Perry and Sophie Olson 6-3, 6-0 at first doubles.

Warren travels to Fairview on Thursday for its next Region 2 match.

WATERFORD — After two home wins in three days, Warren’s volleyball team suffered a sweep on Tuesday at Fort LeBoeuf.

Warren fell, 18-25, 24-26, and 14-25.

Katie Madigan had seven kills and 14 digs for the Dragons (10-3-1 overall), Ellee Irwin five kills, Halee Mineweaser 12 assists and nine digs, and Carly Beers four kills and three aces.

Warren lost the junior varsity game, 11-25, 17-25.
