Warren posts volleyball win

HICKORY — Katie Madigan had 15 kills and 15 digs to lead Warren past Hickory 19-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 15-8 in girls volleyball action.

Carly Beers had 13 kills; Halee Mineweaser added seven kills, 27 assists, four aces and 12 digs; and Kylie Fehlman had eight kills for the Dragons.

Lindsay Madigan chipped in six assists and two aces; Ellee Irwin had three aces; and Summer Lucks had seven digs in the win.

Warren’s jayvee team also defeated Hickory 25-17, 25-18.

Maddy Jones had six kills, Lily Walker had four kills, Sophie Walker had seven digs and Bailey Roudybush had two aces.

EAGLES WIN MONDAY,

FALL TUESDAY

The Youngsville volleyball team posted a 12-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-19 victory over Commodore Perry on Monday night.

Leading the offense for the Eagles were freshman Mandie Irvine with seven kills; Kenzie Olewine with 10 aces, nine digs, four kills and four assists; Dilyn Moore with 12 aces, 20 assists and four kills; and Sam Wilhelm with nine digs and two assists.

“After the first game, we started to see the girls’ strengths and weaknesses and made the proper changes,” said Coach Hannah Bulard after he first win. “Their attitude to come back was what won the game, and Mandie’s playing gave her a big confidence boost.”

On Tuesday, Youngsville dropped a 25-6, 25-14, 25-10 decision to Saegertown.

DRAGONS BREEZE

CORRY — Warren is 6-0 in Region 4 with its second straight 12-0 win, this time at Corry on Tuesday.

Parks Ordiway had five goals, JT Blum four, and Ethan Best, Mark Lynds and Jack Darling one apiece in the win. Blum and Lynds had three assists apiece, and Parks Ordiway and Finn Ordiway two apiece. Kohle Lyon added an assist.

Will Nebinski, Josh Letko and Jack Lynds combined in goal for the shutout.

Warren, which was able to play all of its players, hosts Franklin in a big Region 4 match on Thursday.

CROSS COUNTRY

WARREN RUNNERS SHINE

Warren’s Hugh Harrison won the boys varsity race by 3 seconds over North East’s Lucas Voyd during District 10 cross country action Tuesday.

Harrison finished in a personal-best time of 17:34.

North East beat the Dragons 24-33 and Youngsville 15-50. Warren also beat Youngsville 16-45. The Eagles’ top finisher was 15th-place Logan McDonald.

In the girls varsity race, North East’s Maddy Hammond won with a time of 20:40 as the Grape Pickers topped Warren 21-50 and Youngsville 23-36.

Katie Beyer finished third for the Dragons while Julie Bojaczko was fourth for the Eagles.

In the boys junior high race, North East’s Mason Probst was second to lead his team past Warren 19-39 and Youngsville 20-50. Warren beat Youngsville 22-50. The Eagles’ Tim Sabella finished first in 10:23 while Warren’s Gavin Heeter was third in 12:34.

In the girls junior high race, Warren’s Lilly Newton took first place with a time of 11:47 as the Dragons beat North East 15-44 and Youngsville 15-50. North East also beat Youngsville 15-50. North East’s Ava Tupper was sixth and Youngsville’s top finisher was 13th-place Elizabeth Hollis.
