Elmira beats Tarp Skunks 5-2
ELMIRA — Jamestown scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but picked up just four hits and no runs the rest of the way as Elmira rallied for a 5-2 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League victory at Dunn Field on Thursday evening.
Nate Scott earned the win for the Pioneers, striking out seven and allowing three hits over five innings. Tom Cattaneo pitched three innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts before Andrew LaCour earned the save with a shutout ninth inning during which he struck out the side.
In the top of the first inning, Elijah Pascual reached on an error and Danny Hosley singled to right field before DiMaggio reached on a two-out error allowing both runners to score for the Tarp Skunks.
But Elmira three pitchers strung up zeros from there.
Hosley finished with two hits, Haiden Hunt and Kyle Borrello had doubles, and Anthony Badala had a single for Jamestown, which fell to 8-4 on the season.
Ryan Bradarich allowed all five runs and 11 hits while striking out five in six innings on the mound for the Tarp Skunks. Charlie Nichols pitched the final two innings and struck out two while allowing one hit.
On Wednesday, Jamestown beat Batavia 10-6 at Diethrick Park.
The Tarp Skunks led 3-2 after the first inning before a three-run fourth inning during which Jamestown had just one hit, but benefited from a Muckdogs error.
Batavia made it 6-4 in the top of the fifth inning, but the Tarp Skunks added on four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hunt and Mark Tucker both had two-run singles in the frame.
Justin Guiliano earned the win in relief of Conner McBride. Guiliano struck out four and allowed five hits in five innings. Christian Lewis and Matt Henson pitched the final two innings.
Hunt, Tucker and Justin Bailey each had two hits. Luke Turner hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
Jamestown will host Elmira today at 7 p.m. at Diethrick Park.
