Bound for ’Boro

Leah Peterson plans to play soccer for the Fighting Scots

Submitted Photo Flanked by her parents, Mark and Nikki, Eisenhower graduate Leah Peterson announces her intention to continue her athletic and academic career at Edinboro University. Also pictured are Eisenhower principal Erica Alm and Eisenhower athletic director Jim Penley.

When describing Leah Peterson, the recent Eisenhower graduate, the word “passionate” comes to mind.

By virtually everyone.

“Leah has been passionate about soccer since the day I met her,” said Knights coach Diane Elmquist. “Even after her (knee) surgery, all she talked about was coming back and playing at a high level.”

It would not be a good idea to underestimate this young lady who plans on majoring in pre-med at Edinboro University, with the ultimate goal of specialized medicine in her future.

A determined goal-driven person, the daughter of Mark and Nikki Peterson began playing soccer in kindergarten with the Warren YMCA Saturday program and continued through high school. It was while playing travel soccer that she realized that she wanted to play in college.

“It’s just something that I want to do. Edinboro has a great program, both soccer and pre-med, so once I went on my official visit it just felt right” Petersons aid.

Added Elmquist: “I’m just so proud of her that she kept her goal in sight despite her knee surgery, I have no doubt she will do well at Edinboro, I look forward to watching her future success.”
