Warren loses second in a row

Times Observer Photo by Jon Sitler Warren shortstop Micah Passmore fires to first.

DuBois scored six runs over the sixth and seventh innings Friday, and handed Warren its second loss in as many days 12-7 at Legion Field.

In the second of three games in three days, head coach Rick Eaton started senior center fielder James Swanson on the mound for the first time this season.

DuBois led 3-0 after one inning, but the Dragons bats hung right with the Beavers, scoring twice each in the second and third innings.

After Ben Sowa singled and Eric Dippold doubled him to third, Gio Elinsky’s two-out, two-run single cut the lead to one. Micah Passmore singled and tied the game scoring on a groundout in the third inning, and JT Blum later scored on a wild pitch to take the lead.

After two scoreless innings in relief, DuBois got to Archie Teconchuk for three runs in the fourth. The back and forth continued when Ben Berdine blasted a two-run homer to left to key a three-run bottom half.

Teconchuk held DuBois until the sixth when a wild pitch tied the game at 7 and an RBI groundout helped the Beavers take the lead.

DuBois added four more runs in the seventh, keyed by a two-run double off reliever Konnor Hoffman, who was brought in with two on and one out. The runs were charged to Teconchuk, but Warren was done scoring.

Garrett Starr led DuBois with a 3-for-4 day, including a walk and four RBIs.

Warren actually outhit DuBois 10-9 in the nonregion loss. Passmore and Berdine had two hits each for the Dragons (9-4 overall). District 9 DuBois is 9-8.

Warren travels to first-place Harbor Creek today and, after a day off on Sunday, plays at Cathedral Prep on Monday at Mercyhurst University.
