Warren boys tennis team runs its record to 12-0

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Warren’s boys tennis team remains unbeaten after a 5-0 win vs. Sharon, Tuesday at the Lakewood Family YMCA.

Inclement weather may have given the Dragons a nice warmup for Saturday’s District 10 2A Singles Championships, being held indoors at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.

“We have district singles on Saturday, district doubles next Wednesday, and team districts next Friday,” said Warren coach Travis Myler of the 12-0 Dragons. “The boys are all hitting their strides and playing some solid tennis. Today was a good matchup for our guys to get some different looks and playing indoors will be helpful since districts is inside, too.”

Warren’s Logan Fincher won 6-1, 6-0 over Jake Auchter; Wes Kiehl 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 over Jake Cattron, and; Luke Smelko 6-0, 6-0 over Peter Wood.

In doubles, Ian Darling/Max Harrison won 6-3, 6-4 over Nik Hunchuk/Ty Chartraw, and; Seth Conarro/Will Strassburg 6-1, 6-2 over Liam Klingensmith/Andrew Joint.

“There aren’t enough accolades to pass around to this group,” said Myler. “They are all doing everything we ask them to do and more.”
