Dragons roll past Meadville for 17-2 win on senior day

Submitted Photo Warren’s softball team celebrated senior day with a 17-2 win over Meadville on Tuesday at Lady Dragons Field.

The sting of a one-run loss to first-place Villa Maria on Monday was eased a bit on Tuesday with an 11-run first inning against Meadville.

Warren’s three seniors — pitcher Kelsey Stuart, third baseman Alex Neureiter and second baseman Rylie Yeager — celebrated senior day with a combined seven hits in a 17-2 four-inning varsity softball victory at Lady Dragons Field.

“We jumped out scoring early again and were able to get everyone in the game,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “It was nice to come back with a win after yesterday’s loss, especially on senior night.”

Warren is now 8-2 with its only losses in the region and on the season to Villa Maria. At 5-2 in Region 5, Warren is one game back in the loss column after Villa lost, 4-3, on Tuesday to Fort LeBoeuf. Villa is 8-1 in the region.

Stuart reached base four times with three hits, and she and Yeager combined to strike out four in four innings against the Bulldogs (0-6). Neureiter and Yeager had two hits each in the 18-hit attack that included an Alix Lytle home run to left-center and six more extra-base hits for the team. Kylie Fehlman’s RBI hit in the fourth ensured the 15-run rule win.

Starting at $3.50/week.
