Change of venue no problem for Warren tennis team

ST. MARYS — In a twist, Warren’s boys tennis team is 13-0.

Nothing should seem strange in this COVID world of 2021, so when Rocky Grove was a late scratch vs. the Dragons, Warren traveled to St. Marys for a 5-0 win on Thursday.

“Yes, match over no match any day,” said Warren coach Travis Myler. “We had the vans already ordered. Rocky Grove had to cancel late last night and Mr. White (Warren athletic director Jeff White) worked hard to get us a replacement match. This was a much more competitive match for us.”

Two days before the District 10 singles championships, Logan Fincher won, 7-6 (7), 6-4, over Dylan Aiello; Wes Kiehl, 6-1, 6-0, over Ryan Holjencin, and; Luke Smelko, 6-0, 6-0, over Jon Chamberlain

In doubles, Ian Darling and Max Harrison won, 6-3, 6-3, over Nate Eckert and Liam Brem, and; Will Strassburg and Seth Conarro, 6-4, 6-3, over Dominic Aiello and Luke Anderson.

Warren is 3-0 versus St. Marys.
