Warren girls host Franklin; boys hit road seeded fifth

Warren will be the No. 1 seed in Class 5A when the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 10 girls basketball playoffs begin this weekend.

The Dragons will host No. 8 Franklin in the quarterfinals Saturday at 7 p.m.

Other Class 5A games will see No. 5 Hickory traveling to No. 4 Habor Creek, No. 7 Conneaut visiting No. 2 Slippery Rock and No. 6 General McLane going to No. 3 Grove City.

Semifinals will take place Wednesday, March 10 with the final on Saturday, March 13.

On the boys side, No. 5 Warren will visit No. 4 Fairview at 7 p.m. Friday for their Class 4A quarterfinal matchup.

Also in Class 4A, No. 8 Ft. LeBoeuf will visit No. 1 Hickory, No. 7 Sharon will go to No. 2 Harbor Creek and No. 6 Oil City will travel to No. 3 Grove City.

Semifinals will take place Tuesday, March 9 and the final will be Friday, March 12.

In Class 1A boys, No. 2 Jamestown will visit No. 1 Farrell in the final Friday, March 12.

In Class 2A boys, No. 8 Reynolds will travel to No. 1 Kennedy Catholic, No. 5 Saegertown will host No. 4 Lakeview, No. 7 West Middlesex will visit No. 2 Cambridge Springs and No. 6 Mercer will take on No. 3 Cochranton at Meadville.

In Class 3A boys, No. 1 Franklin will host No. 8 Seneca, No. 4 Greenville will host No. 5 Girard, No. 2 Sharpsville will host No. 7 Erie First and No. 3 North East will host No. 6 Mercyhurst Prep.

In Class 5A, No. 2 Cathedral Prep will visit No. 1 Meadville in Wednesday’s final and in Class 6A, No. 2 McDowell will visit No. 1 Erie in Wednesday’s final.

In Class 1A girls, No. 2 Farrell will travel to No. 1 Kennedy Catholic for the final Saturday, March 13.

In Class 2A, No. 1 West Middlesex will host No. 8 Reynolds, No. 4 Saegertown will host No. 5 Mercer, No. 2 Cambridge Springs will host No. 7 Cochranton and No. 3 Maplewood will host No. 6 Seneca.

In Class 3A, No. 5 Girard will host No. 4 Lakeview, No. 2 Fairview will host No. 7 North East and No. 6 Sharpsville will visit No. 3 Greenville. No. 1 Mercyhurst Prep awaits the Lakeview-Girard winner.

In Class 4A, No. 1 Villa Maria will host No. 2 Ft. LeBoeuf in Tuesday’s final.
