Soccer

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. –The Lakewood YMCA has announced that soccer leagues, sponsored by Independent Health and Shults Auto Group, will begin play starting Feb. 6 and that it will still accept registrations through Feb. 1.

Following is the schedule: Tuesday night women’s 18-and-older league will start on Feb. 9; and the Thursday night coed league will start on Feb. 11. One can sign up as a team or as an individual. Cost is $45-$65 depending on membership status.

The Sunday power league will start on Feb. 7, but registration must be done as a team. Cost is $850 per team. Saturday morning boys varsity and Saturday afternoon girls varsity (grades 9-12 will start on Feb. 6. Wednesday night boys junior varsity (grades 7-9) will start on Feb. 10, and must register with their own high school team. There is a 10-player minimum and cost is $800 per team. Friday night coed 5th and 6th grade will start on Feb. 12 and the cost is $40-$55, depending on membership status.

Payments are due at time of registration. Due to COVID-19, no spectators will be permitted. Masks must be worn throughout facility and during play.

Junior high basketball

Chase Sitler had 19 points, including three 3-pointers, in Beaty’s 43-21 eighth-grade win over Eisenhower Monday at EHS. Benny Maury added 10 points, and Reid Olsen, Grady Corey, and Zac Schwab had 4 each for Beaty. Gavin Lindemuth led Eisenhower with 11 points and Tanner Lookenhouse had four for the Knights.

Jacob McMeans and Tage Wyman combined for 15 first-quarter points for Beaty en route a 40-22 win in the seventh-grade game. Lucas Thrift had 8 points for Beaty. Austin Bennett and Derek Guiher had 6 points each for the Ike seventh-graders.

Bowling

Peytynn Kirby, a fifth-grader at Youngsville Elementary School, bowled her career-high game, a 112, at Valley Bowling Center.

Aden Hendrickson of Youngsville High School rolled a 669 to lead the varsity scores at Valley Bowling Center.

Chuck Hazeltine fired a 248-658 and Darcy Rex rolled a 238-578 to highlight action in the Rustted Nutz Garage League at Valley Bowling Center.
