Area wrestlers have busy weekend on the road

HADLEY — Eisenhower finished 0-2 at the Commodore Perry Tri Meet on Saturday.

The Knights opened the day with a 36-33 loss to host Commodore Perry, entering the final weight tied at 33.

There, at 113 pounds, Commodore Perry’s Hunter Geibel earned a 6-4 decision over Eisenhower’s Anthony Riveria to pull out the 36-33 victory.

Cole Kellogg (120 pounds) and Alex Hummel (145 pounds) earned pins while Tristen Wilcox (285 pounds) picked up a decision for the Knights. Cameron Jakubczak (138 pounds), Tucker Lindell (152 pounds) and Cael Black (215 pounds) won via forfeit.

In their second match of the day, the Knights dropped a 35-28 verdict to Conneaut Area.

Jakubczak, Hummel, Mikael Beaver (189 pounds) and Michael Vanatta (285 pounds) won via forfeit. Black earned an 11-3 major decision over Trevor Tursky at 215 pounds.

EAGLES DROP THREE

SHARPSVILLE — Youngsville went 0-3 at the Sharpsville Duals.

Against Reynolds, Collin Clough earned the Eagles’ lone points in a 72-3 defeat.

Clough won a 12-9 decision over Clayton Rhoades at 145 pounds.

Grove City then handed Youngsville a 48-18 defeat with all 18 of the Eagles’ points coming via pins.

At 132 pounds, Logan McDonald pinned Dominic Garzarelli in 1:09; at 152 pounds, Matt DeSimone pinned Nathan Boyd in 2:47; and Damon Reese then pinned Adan Navarro in 50 seconds at 172 pounds to end the match.

To end the day, Sharpsville topped Youngsville, 48-16.

Clough earned a 17-5 major decision over Josh Divens at 145 pounds; Reese pinned Wyatt Sternthal in 1:08 at 172 pounds and Mason Henry won via forfeit at 120 pounds.

DISTRICT 9

WOLVERINES WIN TWO

HERNDON — Sheffield went 2-3 at the Line Mountain Duals on Saturday.

To open the day, the Wolverines benefited from seven forfeits in a 60-0 shutout of Northeast Bradford.

At 152 pounds, Cooper Traister pinned Jack Shumway; at 215 pounds, Ethan Finch pinned Kenric Ricci in 20 seconds; and at 285 pounds, Ethen Confer pinned Kamden Ricci in 1:23.

North Schuylkill then handed Sheffield a 46-18 defeat.

For the Wolverines; Landon Mead beat Bradlee Smith, 7-6, at 172 pounds; Finch won via forfeit at 215 pounds; Danah Campbell pinned Neekoli Caraballo in 1:47 at 285 pounds; and Chase Kyler beat Noah Gilgore, 4-2, at 106 pounds.

Sheffield’s second win came via a 36-28 defeat of South Williamsport.

A.J. Barnes (120 pounds), Drew Morgan (126 pounds), Jake Davidson (189 pounds), Finch (215 pounds) and Kyler (106 pounds) won via forfeit.

Campbell pinned Jake Casella in 5:33 for the Wolverines’ lone win that was actually wrestled.

In a 60-9 loss to Line Mountain, Davidson pinned Isaac Shaffer in 3:16 at 189 pounds and Finch beat Jacob Freese, 9-2, at 215 pounds.

The Wolverines closed the day with a 45-27 loss to Troy.

Trenton Mead pinned Ben Randall in 1:18 at 138 pounds; Traister pinned Eli Randall in 30 seconds at 152 pounds; Finch won via forfeit at 215 pounds; Campbell won via forfeit at 285 pounds; and Barnes beat Joseph Schwenk, 8-2, at 120 pounds.

SHEFFIELD FALLS

ON ROAD

TIONESTA — Zeelan Hargenrader scored all 17 of his points in the second half as North Clarion topped Sheffield, 59-52, in District 9 boys basketball Monday.

Sheffield led 21-19 at halftime before a 24-11 third quarter put North Clarion in the lead. Hargenrader made three field goals and a pair of free throws in the period while Aiden Hartle added 8 of his game-high 17 points.

Sheffield attempted to stage a comeback in the fourth quarter, but North Clarion made 14 of its 25 free throw attempts in the quarter to put away the victory.

Tony Richards led Sheffield with 11 points and Lucas McNeal added 10 while Tyler Hepinger and Connor Finch each had 9.
