Lakewood YMCA Amy King 5K to be run virtually

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — The Lakewood YMCA Amy King 5K Run will not be held in person this year.

The race is now virtual due to the new COVID-19 regulations.

“We are saddened, especially with this being our 20th anniversary,” race organizers said in a statement.

The YMCA is still accepting registrations for the race with no T-shirts. Runners can register in person at the Lakewood YMCA or online at www.runsignup.com/Race/NYAmys5kRun. The race will now be held using the RaceJoy app and will run from 7 a.m. Nov. 28 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 29.

Hooded T-shirt orders will be available for pick up on Friday, Dec. 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. or any day after within facility hours, for those who pre-ordered shirts.

“We thank you for being patient, sticking and adjusting with us through all the changes to keep everyone safe and healthy, while still providing family events,” organizers said. “Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.”

Race sponsors include: Tom and Michelle Marra; Matric; Warren and Cathy Gorrell; Bruce and Judy Battler; Spectrum Eye Care; Michael and Christy Brecht; Terri Dyer; John and Debbie Lloyd; Celoron Lodge; Raymour & Flanigan; BlueCross BlueShield; and Tom Priester.
