Warren’s Bish, Youngsville’s Bojaczko win at Betts Park

Warren battled Youngsville cross country at home at Betts Park on Thursday, with Matt Bish taking home the varsity boys race for the Dragons in 21:49. Michael Crane led Youngsville with a third-place finish.

Tim Sabella claimed the boys junior high race for Youngsville in 10:52.

Julia Bojaczko took home the girls varsity race in 23:17 for Youngsville, while Lilly Newton won the junior high race in 12:59 for Warren.

ROCKY GROVE BOYS,

EISENHOWER GIRLS PREVAIL

RUSSELL — Rocky Grove edged out host Eisenhower, 26-30, to claim the boys varsity cross country race on Thursday. Magnum Vincent finished with a 17:54, ahead of Eisenhower’s Ethan Kellogg in second with a 18:23.

In the girls varsity race, Eisenhower was able to pick up a 25-31 victory, despite Kaylin Jacoby taking first for the visitors in 25:08.

Chloe Lasecki was second for Eisenhower in 26:37 while Madison Cathcart was just behind in 27:44.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the effort of both the varsity girls and boys teams,” coach Darlene Beach said. “When we ran at Rocky Grove, the girls tied 28-28, and we won on the tie breaker. The boys race was one of the most exciting races we’ve had on our Eco-Lab trail in quite a while. Our only loss coming into this race was to Rocky Grove. This was the race for the top of the region.”

Rocky Grove won the boys junior high race, 24-31, with Joe Mistretta taking second for the Knights in 10:08.

The visitors won the girls junior high race, 20-38, despite Kierra Wismar taking first for the Knights in 11:17.
