AC VALLEY TOPS SHEFFIELD

FOXBURG — Allegheny-Clarion Valley was a 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 winner at home over Sheffield.

“We are very evenly matched with AC Valley as you can tell by tonight’s scores,” said Sheffield head coach Melissa Lemay. “In the first two sets we struggled to convert our attacks into kills. AC Valley played excellent defense.”

On 99 attack attempts, Sheffield finished with only 18 kills on the night. Kassidy Orinko led with seven kills, four blocks, and 13 digs. Emily Leichtenberger had 14 digs and three kills; Kadence Steffan added 17 assists; while Lynzie Grubbs had three kills and three blocks.

“The girls played well and I am proud of their effort tonight,” said Lemay. “They played loose and looked like they were having fun the whole match. Besides winning that was our goal for the night. Make it fun. It was a good match for us to have at this time of the year to push us as we prepare for District 9 playoffs.”
