Eisenhower boys, girls both claim cross country races

Eisenhower posted a pair of varsity cross country victories Wednesday afternoon on a cold and windy day at Betts Park.

Ethan Kellogg led the way for the boys, posting a winning time of 17 minutes, 43 seconds, 15 seconds in front of teammate Alex Hummel. Hugh Harrison of Warren was third in 18:10.

The Knights (8-1) finished with 18 points compared to 43 for the Dragons.

In the girls varsity race, Warren claimed the first three places, but Eisenhower’s depth was the difference in a 33-50 win.

Casey Kopazuy (24:05), Serena Clarke and Carmen Moore finished one-two-three respectively for the Dragons, but the Knights placed six of the final seven to close out the win. Chloe Lasecki’s fourth-place finish led the way for Eisenhower (3-6).

In the junior varsity boys race, Joseph Mistretta led Eisenhower to a 28-29 victory. Sam Lindell’s second-place finish was tops for Warren.

In the junior varsity girls race, Lilly Newton of Warren held off Kiara Wismar of Eisenhower to claim first place. Warren won the team competition with 15 points compared to 50 for the Knights.

OIL CITY WINS PAIR

OIL CITY — Oil City claimed the varsity boys cross country race against Youngsville Thursday, with Jack Mumford leading the way in 20:23.37.

Michael Crane led the visitors in 21:52.32, ahead of teammate Phoenix Lindell (22:23.89).

Oil City also claimed the girls race, with Olivia Mumford leading the way in 21:49.

Julia Bojaczka took second for Youngsville (21:59), Sarah Sabella fifth (26:11) and Lillian Sabella seventh (27:45).

Tim Sabella claimed the junior high boys race for Youngsville in 11:18.51, while Lilly Hollis led the visitors in the girls junior high race with a time of 17:02.75.
