Big first half lifts Ike girls to win over Titusville

TITUSVILLE — Eisenhower scored five first-half goals en route to a 5-0 District 10 Region 3 girls soccer victory over Titusville on Tuesday.

Cassie Smelko found Elley Eastman open on the right wing and she drove it into the right corner of the net during the 10th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Over the next five minutes of play, the Knights added three more goals. First, Eastman sent a cross toward the front of the net that was tapped home by Megan Strausser. Leah Peterson then sent another cross to Strausser, who tapped it home again. Finally, Eastman scored an unassisted goal with 25:26 remaining in the opening half.

Eastman finished the first-half scoring with 3:21 remaining on another unassisted goal. Eisenhower sent 12 shots on goal during the opening 40 minutes.

Lilee Renninger made three first-half saves for Eisenhower while Paisley Crawford had 11 second-half saves and 18 for the game for the Rockets.

WARREN BREEZES

MEADVILLE — Warren improved to 8-0 in District 10 Region 3 girls soccer action with a 10-0 victory over Meadville on Tuesday.

Kyleigh Wilson, Paige Johnson and Kyra Wotorson all notched hat tricks in the win, with Wilson adding a pair of assists for good measure. Georgie Bickling also found the back of the net and dished out three assists, Ella Ordiway added two assists, and Eliza Brook dished out a helper for the Dragons.

“I could not be more proud of this team, their hard work and our senior leadership,” Coach Jeremy Bickling said. “Our seniors wanted this win and made it their mission to remind Meadville who the defending District 10 champions are.”
