Warren girls run to victory

Katie Beyer led the Warren girls cross country team to a convincing win over Rocky Grove on Tuesday at Betts Park.

Beyer toured the course in 21 minutes, 32 seconds as the Dragons had the first five finishers en route to 15 points. Teammate Shyann Rulander was second in 23:42. Rocky Grove finished with 50 points.

Rocky Grove was an 18-44 winner over Warren in the boys race as Magnum Vincent posted a first-place time of 17:10.

Hugh Harrison of Warren posted a third-place finish in 18:28.

Cambridge Springs was a 25-15, 25-22, 25-27, 25-23 winner over Youngsville in volleyball action on Tuesday.

Youngsville’s Kamryn Weissinger collected eight digs and 10 kills, Andrea Sveda four digs, seven kills and five blocks, Kenzie Olewine 11 digs and three kills, and Jena Wilson 24 assists, two digs, three aces and a kill.

“The games were close and we just can’t afford to give up points due to missed serving. Every point needs to be earned,” Youngsville coach Misty Weber said.

Cambridge Springs was a 25-18, 25-13 winner in the junior high contest.
