Sheffield sweeps volleyball opener

MARIENVILLE — The Sheffield volleyball team went on the road and swept the Forest Area Fires on Monday, 25-6, 25-8, 25-12, in District 10 action.

Emily Leichtenberger and Kassidy Orinko had four kills apiece while Kadence Steffan had 14 assists. Leichtenberger also had seven service aces.

“I was pleased with their serving tonight and how they played together as a team,” said Sheffield head coach Melissa Lemay. “We were able to move the ball around and run an effective offense with only one attack error on the night.”

Lemay added that they need to continue to work on communication, but that will come with more time on the court together.

In the junior varsity match, Sheffield posted a 16-25, 25-11, 25-7 victory.

Emily Foster had seven service aces and Kassidy Orinko had six.
