Dragons top Oil City in tennis

OIL CITY — A pair of singles victories and a pair of doubles wins helped Warren top Oil City, 4-1, in District 10 nonleague girls tennis Saturday.

Maddie Rogers and Sydney Govoni both won their singles matches in straight sets for the Dragons.

“Maddie played more offense, which helped her win the match,” Warren head coach Tom Pellegrino said of Rogers, adding about Govoni, “Sydney is improving every match and playing some great singles. She utilized her big forehand and took control of a majority of the points.”

Amanda Gray and Sophie Olson combined with Jackie Peterson and Madalynn Perry to lose just four games at doubles for Warren.

“Our girls played some high-quality doubles today,” Pellegrino said. “They played very clean and took complete control of the net.”
