Abraxas co-op football agreement in place with Sheffield HS

The cooperative football agreement between Sheffield Area High School and Abraxas is in place.

There were COVID-19-related concerns expressed at Monday night’s board meeting.

Board members were reassured and the co-op will continue.

Board Member Jeff Labesky asked if students from Abraxas — a residential youth treatment facility in Marienville, Forest County — would be allowed to participate if residents, possibly including players, were allowed to make home visits to “hotspots like Allegheny County and Chester County.”

Superintendent Amy Stewart said Warren County School District officials have met with staff from Abraxas.

“They stated at this time students are not going home for visits,” Stewart said.

Students at Abraxas, like those attending Warren County School District schools, will be checked for signs of COVID-19.

“Their screening process mirrors ours,” Stewart said.
