Big 30 senior football game still on for Aug. 1

“I’m back!”

That’s essentially all Michael Jordan contributed to a fax sent on March 18, 1995, announcing his return to the NBA after a brief retirement.

Okay, so the 2020 Big 30 Charities Classic senior football game doesn’t even resemble the Chicago Bulls’ situation, but we’re in the middle of a pandemic — and we have ESPN’s The Last Dance, Korean baseball, and national cornhole championships as the only things going, so any type of sports news is exciting.

In a brief press release on Friday, Dave Ezzolo of the Big 30 committee announced they had “made the decision to move forward with its plans to play the Big 30 game on August 1st, 2020 (in Bradford), per New York and Pennsylvania state reopening rules.

“Dates and events leading up to the game are all subject to change,” he wrote. “Our game, of course, will also be at the mercy of the state mandates. Any new changes will be released to the press, immediately as they happen.”

The Big 30 committee has acted optimistically through the pandemic, continuing to promote graduating seniors with spots on the New York and Pennsylvania rosters, including Warren Area High School’s Jamo Douvlos being announced earlier this week to the PA roster.
