Spring Sports: To you, from us

Photo by Kate Cataldo; Artwork by Bob Patchen The Cover: Youngsville junior Kamryn Weissinger Youngsville junior Kamryn Weissinger is one of the most well-rounded student-athletes you will come across. A 3-sport standout, softball is perhaps her best. She has emerged as a leader not just on the diamond, but on the volleyball and basketball courts as well. On the cover, you see her showing her more stoic side. She is hard-working, dedicated and extremely coachable and we were excited she agreed to be on our ‘Spring Sports’ cover. The daughter of Troy and Holly Weissinger, she is hoping to get on the field this spring with her teammates. We are too!

Dear coaches and student-athletes,

We understand how difficult a time this is for you, to put so much work into your respective sports, only to deal with the uncertainty that life brings us.

These are uncharted times for all of us, and, while we hope the spring sports season can carry on in some capacity, we still wanted you to have something to remember it by in case it doesn’t. To that point, thank you, coaches, for your cooperation!

To the seniors, especially – you have been dealt an unfair hand. We know how hard you have worked and how badly you want to compete one final time in high school, and we also know you understand, probably better than most, why you can’t right now. The idea of taking the field, court or track during your senior spring season, and walking across the stage at graduation is a rite of passage.

It is our hope that you have that opportunity. But if you don’t, if our current reality continues to go on for a while, just know that you have faced this challenge head-on. No doubt all of you have dealt with adversity before, albeit maybe not of this nature, but you will be stronger because of it.

We will all get through this together.

Hope to see you all soon!
