Number of local wrestlers aiming to get to states at NW AA regional

Eisenhower’s Jesse Gourley battles Conneaut’s Isaiah Gilchrist during their 285-pound consolation match at Sharon High School.

Four Knights, two Eagles and a Wolverine embark on Sharon High School this weekend for the Northwest Regional Class AA wrestling championships. The goal? Be one of four left standing in their respective weight classes and earn a trip to the ‘big dance,’ the PIAA state championships in Hershey.

Three of them – Eisenhower’s Logan Jaquay and Cael Black, as well as Sheffield’s Ethan Finch, all went to states a season ago, with Jaquay and Black earning regional titles and Finch finishing second.

They will be joined by Youngsville’s Jake DeSimone and Collin Clough, as well as Eisenhower’s Jesse Gourley.

Here’s how each weight class shapes up.
