Knights fall to dominant Reynolds squad at D-10 duals

SHARON, Pa. – Eisenhower lost its quarterfinal match with Reynolds at the District 10 Class 2A team wrestling championships on Saturday morning, but they were the only team to score against the Raiders on the day.

Logan Jaquay and Cael Black both earned decisions at 120 and 220, respectively, while Easton Hedman got Clayton Rhoades on his back to claim a second-period fall at 132.

The final score read 65-12.

The Raiders went on to beat Mercer 76-0 and Corry 70-0 in earning yet another D-10 crown.

“That’s why they’re ranked No. 1 in the state and have multiple state championships,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black. “It lets you know where you are.; it’s a true reality check. It also gives you and up close and personal look that you could get to that level, but you have a long way to go to get there.

“They have a dynasty. Coach Taylor does an amazing job with those kids. They have something special going. I’m proud of our guys to be honest. Most of the guys weren’t hesitant. They were fighters and got after it.”

The Knights now turn their attention to a match of great local interest, hosting Warren on Tuesday.

Coach Black also wanted to give a shout out to pair of former Ike standouts on a special weekend for them.

“Have to give a shout out to Travis Hummel and Drew Wilcox for winning a state title at Falconer,” he said. “It’s good to see Eisenhower alumni having success like that.”
