District 10 announces quarterfinal playoff sites

Payton Barnes (30), Drew Swanson (25) and the Warren Dragons will play Conneaut in the D-10 Class 4A quarterfinals on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Hagerty Events Center in Erie.

The Youngsville Eagles, as well as both Warren basketball teams now know when and where they will be playing their District 10 quarterfinal basketball games.

District 10 announced updated sites and times Sunday morning as each team’s preparation is well underway.

The Eagles (18-5), fresh off their first playoff win since 1992 against Mercer on Friday, will play Rocky Grove in Class 2A on Friday at Oil City High School, with a tip-time of 6 p.m.

They will be the first game of a doubleheader, with the 3A quarterfinal between Franklin and Girard to follow.

The other quarterfinal games feature Farrell vs. Maplewood, Cambridge Springs vs. Wilmington and Lakeview vs. Cochranton.

The Warren boys (14-8), who had a first-round bye, will get things started this week when they take on Conneaut, a 54-50 first-round winner over Oil City, on Thursday in Class 4A. They will be playing at the Hagerty Family Events Center (Prep-Villa Events Center) at 6 p.m. They will also be the first game of a doubleheader, with Harbor Creek and General McLane to follow.

On Saturday, the Warren girls (15-7) will return to the court after receiving a first-round bye. They will take on Meadville, a blowout winner over Franklin in the first round in Class 5A, at the PVEC with a 2:30 tip time.

They will be the second of three games at the venue on Saturday. A 3A quarterfinal between Mercyhurst Prep and Seneca gets things started at 1 p.m. and, after the Warren-Meadville game, Harbor Creek takes on Hickory in another 5A quarterfinal contest.

The other quarterfinal games in 5A feature Grove City vs. General McLane and Slippery Rock vs. Corry.
