COCHRANTON 67,

EISENHOWER 39

Eisenhower was within striking distance of Cochranton going into the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals outscored the Knights 25-8 in the fourth quarter en route to a 67-39.

Jaidan Martinec led three Cochranton (8-3 overall, 5-2 Region 2) players in double figures with 20 points.

Senior Emiley Wheeler had another strong game for Eisenhower (2-7, 1-4) with 12 points, while Delaney Chase chipped in with 10 and Lilee Renninger 9.

EHS actually had the lead down to four, 33-29, with 4:40 left in the third quarter.

“We stayed right with them up unitl that point,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “The fourth quarter was not our quarter. But there was a lot of positives. That was the first strong press that we’ve seen all year. I thought we handled it well.”

Logue also noted the strong defensive effort of Angeles Jareno, who limited Lexie Moore, District 10’s top 3-point shooter with 39 makes, to eight points and zero 3’s.

“She’s a great athlete and a great student,” said Logue of Jareno, a foreign-exchange student who is new to the sport. “She wants to learn as much about the game as she can and she’s a gym rat.”

Wheeler also had 13 rebounds for the Knights, who return to action on Tuesday at Union City.
