CRANBERRY, Pa. — Eight of Cranberry’s nine match wins came with bonus points as the Berries doubled-up visiting Sheffield, 48-24, Thursday.

Cranberry picked up five pinfalls, a forfeit, a tech fall and major decision as well as a win by decision. Sheffield got bonus points in three of its five victories, two pins and a forfeit.

Xavier Barton opened the match with Cranberry’s lone decision, a 6-0 win over Danah Campbell at 285.

Collin Brown tied things up with a 4-2 win over Mike Stanley at 106.

The Berries won the next three contests to get some separation. Austin Shoup tech falled AJ Barnes, 16-1, at 113, Carter Stanley decked Marco Avalos at 120 and Evan Hepler pinned Jacob Disshon at 126.

Caden Smead got the Wolverines back in it with a pinfall victory over Alex Tagfoya at 132 and Cooper Traister won via forfeit at 138 to close the gap to 20-15.

Garret Haye’s 12-3 major decision over Kevin Marfink at 145 gave Cranberry some breathing room. Landon Smead picked up a 3-1 win over Gus Van Wormer at 152 to keep Sheffield within striking distance at 24-18, but the Berries won the next two matches, Eben Wry via forfeit at 160 and Koby Deloe with a pinfall over Jake Davidson at 170, to push the advantage to 36-18.

Ethan Finch made quick work of Dakota Woodcock at 182 for Sheffield’s final points of the night.

Cam Russel pinned Nasir Baker at 195 and Seth Yeager decked Casey Anderson at 220 to close out the match and the win for the Berries.

Sheffield is back on the home mat Tuesday for a dual match with Clarion.
