Madigan 2nd at Fred Bell

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Warren’s Ryan Madigan took second-place at 126 pounds at the Fred Bell Tournament in Grove City. Madigan was the highest finisher from Warren County.

Madigan earned a 7-5 decision over Falconer’s Joey Pillitteri in the quarterfinals, then pinned Titusville’s Seth Donovan in 4:42. He matched up with Glendale’s Suds Dubler in the final, dropping a hard-fought 7-5 decision.

Glendale took first-place in the 38-team field with 177.5 points, while Warren finished 23rd and Sheffield 28th.

Sheffield’s Ethan Finch bounced back after a tough quarterfinal loss to Maplewood’s J.D. McFadden in a loaded 182-pound weight class, battling all the way back to the third-place match, where he dropped a tight 3-2 decision to Andrew Sharer of Penns Valley.

At 160 pounds, Warren’s Joey Arnold also bounced back from a tough quarterfinal loss, getting all the way back to the third-place match, where he earned a fall over DuBois’ Gauge Gulvas in 4:41.

The District 10 team wrestling championships take place this week. Warren will battle Meadville in one 3A semifinal at 5 p.m. at the Hagerty Family Events Center on Thursday, with McDowell taking on Cathedral Prep in the other semifinal. The finals will follow after the semifinals that same night.

Eisenhower will host Slippery Rock in a first-round matchup in 2A on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
