Lady Dragons roll past Fort LeBoeuf

WATERFORD, Pa. — Warren jumped out to a big first-half lead en route to a 45-33 Region 6 win at Fort LeBoeuf Monday.

The Dragons, winners of five straight, led 32-8 at the half. Emma Ruhlman had 16 of her game-high 19 points in the first 16 minutes.

“They’re rebuilding, but they make me nervous up there,” Warren coach Lisa LaVan said. ”

We did a nice job with some things. I liked what we did against their zone offensively. I’m happy.”

Warren (13-5 overall, 5-1 Region 6) turned to Ruhlman often in the first quarter, where she had 10 of the Dragons’ 15 points in the frame.

“She came out hot and the team did a good job finding her,” LaVan said.

Riley Childress heated up in the second with seven points.

“Teams are trying to figure out how to stop them both,” LaVan said. “We’ve got to keep finding a consistent third scorer.”

At Fort LeBoeuf (7-10, 2-4) that third scorer was Teagan Paris, who finished with 10 points.

“This was her best game in a while,” LaVan said. “She did a great job on defense. I thought this was great for her.”

Ruhlman had a double-double with 12 rebounds to go along with her 19 points. Riley Childress finished with nine points and five assists. She combined with Taylor Childress for eight steals.

The Dragons return home Wednesday for a crucial region game against General McLane.

Warren’s junior varsity team picked up its second straight overtime win, 27-25.

Carly Beers led the way with 11 points while Ella Ordiway added seven in the win.

“Our JVs did a nice job,” LaVan said. “They set the tone with their win.”

MAPLEWOOD 68,

EISENHOWER 31

GUYS MILLS, Pa. — Isabella Eimer and Jordan Roser combined for 49 points, including nine 3-pointers, to lead Maplewood to a 68-31 Region 2 win over Eisenhower Monday.

It was the Tigers’ ninth straight win and kept them a game ahead of Cambridge Springs for the region lead. Eimer and Roser hit most of their threes in the second half.

“Eimer put on a 3-point shooting show,” Eisenhower coach Mike Logue said. “She was a good four or five feet behind the 3-point line. That was just amazing.”

Maplewood (17-2 overall, 13-0 Region 2) jumped out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter. Eisenhower (4-14, 3-10) kept it closer in the second, but still trailed 30-15 at the half.

“Their quickness gave us trouble offensively,” Logue said.

After struggling from distance in the first half, Eimer and Roser began hitting in the second as the Tigers outscored the Knights 38-16 for the final margin.

“We were trying to guard the 3-point line,” Logue said. “They’re quick and will drive right by you if you come out.”

Eisenhower tried to counter with some old fashioned 3-point plays.

“We tried to pound it in and get a foul,” Logue said.

Roser finished with a game-high 27 points, while Eimer had 22 in the win.

Emiley Wheeler had a double-double for Eisenhower with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bella Marino added seven points.

The Knights are off until Friday when they travel to Ridgway.
