Knights go 4-1 at Sharon Duals

SHARON, Pa. – The Eisenhower Knights wrestling team traveled to the Sharon Duals over the weekend and came away with a 4-1 record.

Over the course of the day, they saw some great competition, beginning right of the bat with Norwin, won of the biggest schools in the WPIAL.

They lost that opening match, 50-30, but rattled off four-straight wins after that.

“We had a lot of good matches,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black. “We wrestled some tough competition and saw some different styles.”

The Knights followed the Norwin match with wins over Knoch (48-35), Iroquois (70-6), Fox Chapel (41-30) and Frank W. Cox out of Virginia Beach (41-30).

“Knoch was solid, Fox Chapel had a nice team too and Cox, even though they forfeited a couple matches, was really solid,” noted Black.

Logan Jaquay and Josh Bortz both went 5-0 on the day, while Cael Black was 4-1.

“Logan got a good match in against the kid from Cox and Josh had a dominant day,” Black said. “They kid Cael lost too is ranked in the top 12 in the state in 3A.”

Big things are ahead for the Knights, beginning with hosting a wrestle-in Wednesday in the District 10 Class 2A team duals. With a win over the Rockets, the Knights would advance to the final eight in Sharon on Saturday.

“We have a big couple of weeks coming up,” Black said. “Wednesday is a big match for us. It’s a long drive for them, and I know they’re not coming to lose. There going to be ready, and we’re going to be ready to.”
