Jaquay takes 120-pound title at Tool City

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Logan Jaquay is a Tool City champion.

On Saturday, the unbeaten EHS senior pinned Titusville’s Zach Rodgers in their 120-pound semifinals at the 3:21 mark, and followed that up with a most impressive 8-6 decision over North Allegheny’s Dylan Coy.

It’s been an impressive season thus far for Jaquay, who is closing in on the Warren County career wins record established by D.J. Fehlman.

He wasn’t the only Knight to earn medalist honors.

Josh Bortz battled back for a fourth-place finish at 145. In the first consolation round, he earned a tech fall over Olean’s Noah Perternitit, followed by an 8-3 decision over Titusville’s James Titus and a pin in three minutes against Sharpsville’s Austin McFeater and a 6-4 sudden victory decision over McDowell’s Caden Farr. He lost his third-place match against Fort LeBoeuf’s Joel Huck, but it was nevertheless a strong day.

Cael Black also battled back to a fifth place finish at 220, capping off his day with a 7-2 decision over Lakeview’s Isaac DeVault.

Gannon Jaquay finished seventh at 138 with a 7-0 decision over General McLane’s Kyle Cousins in their seventh-place match.

Anthony Rivera also battled, and ended his day with a 3-1 sudden victory loss to Penns Valley’s Chase Fleshman in their seventh-place match.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, hosting Union City.
