Ike’s Jaquay through to semis at Tool City

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Logan Jaquay is through to the semifinals at the Tool City Tournament.

The senior and top-seed at 120 earned a pair of falls to punch his ticket to the final four.

“Logan looked good in making it to the semis,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black.

The rest of his teammates had a tougher time of it.

Anthony Rivera (106), Ethan Nizzi (113), Easton Hedman (132), Gannon Jaquay (138), Josh Bortz (145) and Cael Black (220) are all still alive in wrestlebacks, and will need to win two matches tomorrow to make it to the podium.

“It was just one of those days,” coach Black said. “Some of them won matches and then got beat. Some of them ran into buzzsaws. We were missing our whole lineup, but overall I thought the guys battled hard.”

Nizzi earned his first non-forfeit varsity win in his opening match.

“That was definitely a highlight,” Black added.

Wrestling gets underway bright and early this morning at 9 a.m.

“All these guys have to win two right off the bat to get in the top six,” Black added. “Wrestling is one of those sports, you really can’t hide anything. You’re either there or you’re not. I’m confident that they’re going to go out and battle.”
