ERIE, Pa. – The Warren Dragons had an impressive showing on Saturday, finishing second at the Tom Carr Duals.

The Dragons earned dominant wins over North East (72-6) and Perry Traditional Academy (78-0) and a hard-fought 47-33 victory over Girard, before beating Erie in the semifinals, 46-30.

They then dropped a close match to Cranberry in the finals, 48-33.

Joey Arnold and Zack Zinger had great days for the Dragons at 160 and 170 respectively. They closed out the afternoon with a pair of first-period pins against Cranberry in the final.

Christian Papalia was another standout for the Dragons at 106, earning a first-period pin as well to cap his strong overall performance.

Alex Anderson had the last win over the day for the Dragons, earning a 9-3 decision over Cranberry’s Garrett Hogue at 145. It was the only result of the match that didn’t end by fall or forfeit.

The early matches against North East and Perry saw some forfeits, but also allowed coach Paul Streich to get a number of his younger wrestlers valuable experience.

In the matchup against Girard, Arnold, Brandon Daugharthy, Donovan Davies, Jake Hayes, Papalia and Ryan Madigan all got impressive wins.

Madigan was another Dragon who had a strong day overall.

After a busy couple of days, the Dragons return to action on Thursday, traveling to McDowell.
