TCCS tops Forest

TIONESTA, Pa. –Tidioute Charter outscored Forest 25-12 over the second and third quarters to come away with a 44-32 win Friday.

Nakiesha Krouse and Angelina Sabella each scored in double figures as the Bulldogs overcame a slow start to top their hosts.

“We started the game shaky and blew too many easy shots,” TCCS coach Christy Valentine said. “The girls settled down and picked up the pressure to take a five point lead into the half.”

The Bulldogs trailed the Fires, 7-5, after the first eight minutes, but found their offensive rhythm in the second quarter. TCCS also held Forest to just four points in the fram to take a 16-12 lead into the locker room.

Sabella connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Bulldogs offense a spark.

“The team woke up,” Valentine said. “It wasn’t a pretty win, but a win is a win.”

Krouse had a game high 18 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Sabella finished with 10 points, four rebounds and seven steals. Shelby Proctor scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

TCCS travels to Cochranton Monday. Junior varsity is set for a 1 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
