WEXFORD, Pa. – It was a tough end to a historic season for the Warren Lady Dragons.

Behind three goals from Taylor Hamlett, Mars defeated Warren 6-1 in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs at North Allegheny High Schoo on Tuesday.

The Planets, the No. 22 ranked team in the nation in the USA Today Super 25, scored four times in the first half, which was started by Londynn Gonzales at the 33:06 mark.

University of Pittsburgh commit Ellie Coffield scored twice in the first 40 minutes as well.

The Dragons did manage to do what no other team has done in the last eight games against the Planets – score. In fact, Mars didn’t allow a shot on goal in their 4-0 WPIAL title game victory over Plum.

With the win, the Planets will take on West Allegheny, a 2-1 winner over Hollidaysburg, in the quarterfinals.

For Warren, their season ends after capturing the first District 10 title in program history, 3-2 in overtime over Meadville last week.

It continues an incredible run for WAHS athletics over the past two years, which included the first D-10 title for volleyball last season, a run that went all the way to the state finals, as well as D-10 crowns in girls basketball and baseball in 2018-19.
