Warren rolls past Erie High

Warren’s Katie Madigan receives a serve during Game 1 against Erie High on Tuesday. Madigan had 12 digs as the Dragons rolled to a 3-0 win.
Warren volleyball made quick work of visiting Erie on Tuesday, picking up its second consecutive Region 6 victory, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-22).
Senior setter Lex Nyquist got the ball to her hitters in perfect spots all night, led by Jordan Sitler, who finished with a team-high 10 kills.
“We played pretty well,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “There were maybe a few balls we could have played better defense on, but the girls did a good job.”
Speaking of the defense, Katie Madigan was excellent once again, finishing with 12 digs.
“Katie really played well again,” Dolan said. “There aren’t too many balls that are going to hit the floor when she’s back there.”

It was all Warren in Game 1, as back-to-back kills by senior Grace Wortman gave them a commanding 15-4 lead. Hannah Shattuck and Olivia English had kills to help finish off the set, 25-11.
Game 2 was more of the same. Shattuck had a pair of early kills and Madigan and Meredith Morrison aces to help make it 10-5. Erie got as close as three, 10-7, before the Dragons (5-5 overall, 4-3 Region 6) went on a 10-4 run. Halee Mineweaser and Ellee Irwin both had aces during the surge. Kills by Ailsa Boger and Sitler helped close out the set.
“Jordan was really tough,” Dolan noted. “They didn’t really have an answer for her.”
Game 3 was back-and-forth, with Erie taking their first lead of the match at 8-7. In fact, neither team led by more than two until the Dragons took a 21-18 lead. Sitler was big in the third, and a Boger kill made it 19-17 and an ace from Madigan put Warren up 21-18.
Erie (2-9, 0-7) came back to tie it up at 22, but Sitler had a pair of kills to close out the match.
