Warren cross country earns victories

NORTH EAST, Pa. – The Warren and Youngsville cross country teams traveled to take on talented North East cross country squads on Tuesday.

The Lady Dragons came away victorious, thanks to a first-place finish from sophomore Katie Beyer (21:14), while the Warren boys beat Youngsville and lost to North East.

Devon Navaroli led the Warren boys with a third-place finish, while Julie Bojaczko was fourth for the Youngsville girls and Koben Smith 17th to pace the Youngsville boys.

“The boys had a tough day ahead of themselves. North East is one of the top two teams in our district,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “We had some good runs and definitely know where we need to improve. Our girls were in a hard-fought battle and came out with the 1-point advantage. Always nice to win those close ones.”

Said Youngsville coach Adam Green: It was a good race. It was a little windy being close to Lake Erie slowed some of the kids’ times. We had mixed results from the higher than normal temperatures. Julia ran a good race finishing 4th with her second-fastest time of the season.”

Tristin White and Michael Bojaczko ran well for the junior high boys, as did Mackenzie Nichols for the girls.
