WAHS netters impressive at Tri-County

The Lady Dragons tennis team returned to Buhl Park on Monday to resume play in the rain-delayed Tri-County Tournament. Rain on Wednesday forced organizers to stop play, leaving the 3 doubles matches to be continued.

Warren’s three doubles teams of Rylie Yeager and Sydney Govoni, Isabella Shingler and Katie Moore and Amanda Gray and Madalynn Perry all advanced to the semifinals.

Unfortunately, Yeager and Govoni fell to Hickory’s Bender and Speiludsce, while Shingler and Moore were defeated by Grove City’s Timko and Bardy,

However, Gray and Perry defeated Hickory’s Martin and Ordinario in a tiebreaker to advance to the finals to face Wilmington’s Vastano and McGuinness. Unfortunately, the Warren girls ran out of gas and fell to Wilmington in the final.

“All three of the doubles pairs played well beyond expectation throughout this tournament”, said coach Kimberleigh Parroccini. “For all of the girls to make it to the semifinals and Amanda and Madalyn to get to the finals, was the icing on the cake. This is a great warm-up for District doubles on Thursday”, said Parroccini.

The Warren doubles teams conclude the season at District 10 Doubles tournament on Thursday at the Westwood Racket Club in Erie.
