Knights hang tough in loss to Reynolds

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Eisenhower went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in District 10 for nearly three quarters, but host Reynolds was able to pull away in the second half for a 41-6 win over the Knights on their Homecoming.

Eisenhower stunned the 6-1 Raiders early, as a 9-yard touchdown pass from Owen Trumbull to Dillon Benson gave them a 6-0 lead with 4:26 to go in the first quarter. It was the seventh time the duo has connected on a touchdown this season.

That lead held until midway through the second quarter, when Raiders’ star running back Cole Toy scored on a 7-yard run to give Reynolds its first lead of the game at 7-6.

Toy struck again just 28 seconds before halftime, this time plunging in from two yards out to make it 14-6 at the break.

The Raiders showed their muscle in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights 21-0 in the period on touchdown runs from Toy, Bryce McCloskey and Sean O’Hara.

Reynolds scored once more in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

For Eisenhower, while there are no consolation prizes, they once again stood toe-to-toe with one of Mercer County’s top teams.

The Knights return home on Friday, hosting unbeaten Maplewood.
