Cross country runners have final tune-up in NWPA meet

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Eisenhower, Warren, and Youngsville had their final tune-up before the District 10 cross country championships on Saturday, competing at the Northwest PA Invitational at Fairview.

There was a trio of top 10 finishers, led by Eisenhower’s Ethan Kellogg and Alex Hummel, who finished fifth and 10th respectively in the boys’ race.

For Warren, freshman Shyann Rulander took sixth. The Dragons left many of their top runners home as they prepare for districts. Youngsville’s Julia Bojaczko finished 17th in the girls’ race and Warren’s Brett Sowa 13th in the boys’ race.

Phoenix Lindell was 37th to pace the Youngsville boys a

nd Madison Cathcart 39th to lead the Eisenhower girls.

In the junior high races, Warren’s Hugh Harrison was fifth for the boys, while Eliza Brook eighth and Hailey Peterson 10th for the girls. Eisenhower’s Griffin Williams was 10th for the boys.

Eisenhower junior high cross country runners Griffin Williams and Jospeh Mistretta both earned medalist honors at Saturday’s NWPA meet in Fairview.

The District 10 championships are this Saturday at Sharon’s Buhl Park.
