Strong day for runners at Blue Devil Invite

SHARON, Pa. – The Eisenhower, Warren and Youngsville cross country teams got a little preview of District’s on Saturday when they competed at the Sharpsville Blue Devil Invitational at Sharon’s Buhl Park.

Warren’s Katie Beyer (19:26) led all Warren County runners with a sixth-place finish in the girls race at the site of the District 10 championships in late October.

Fellow Lady Dragon Naomi Hahn (19:44) was also a medalist, giving Warren a pair of Top 10 finishers, as she came in ninth. Both were good enough to qualify for MileSplit Elite Performances.

Warren’s Devon Navaroli led all male finishers with a 27th place finish, while Eisenhower’s Tyson Morrison ran sub-18 minutes for the first time, clocking in at 17:57, good for 57th and medalist honors in a race that featured a large number of D-10 schools, as well as some of the top programs from the WPIAL.

“That’s a personal benchmark,” noted Eisenhower coach Darlene Beach said of Morrison’s time.

For Youngsville Julia Bojaczko finished in 22:25, good for 89th in the girls race.

For Warren, the results were all positive.

“It was a good race all around for our teams and top runners,” said coach Kevin Dustin. “We set some big personal bests today, which is always a good morale boost for this point of the season. Very pleased with how we performed against some of the best runners in the state. We definitely know what we need to do to improve toward the end of the season.”
