Knights run well at McQuaid

Eisenhower’s Madison Cathcart competes at the McQuaid Invitational on Saturday. Cathcart was the top finisher for the Lady Knights.

ROCHESTER, NY – Alex Hummel raced to a time of 17:14 and a 26th place finish for Eisenhower at the 55th annual McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Park in Rochester on Saturday.

McQuaid is the largest high school-sponsored cross country meet in the nation.

Hummel earned medalist honors as the Knights finished in 11th place out of 45 teams in the varsity boys unseeded division. Ethan Kellogg and Tyson Morrison also had strong performances, finishing 54th and 63rd, respectively among 345 runners.

For the girls, Madison Cathcart led the way with a 57th place finish (22:46) as EHS finished in 20th place in the varsity girls unseeded division. Chloe Lasecki was 81st. There were 226 runners.

The junior high boys turned in an outstanding performance on the 1.62-mile course, as Jacob Mistretta (21st, 10:05) and Griffin Williams (23rd, 10:06) both earned medalist honors.

Hunter Gourley led the JV boys with a time of 20:18.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday at Corry, along with Fort LeBoeuf.
